Maserati GT2 Stradale: racetrack blood for the road

The Maserati GT2 Stradale in action

Maserati is opening a new chapter - and one with plenty of racing fuel in its blood. With the new GT2 Stradale, the traditional Italian brand is putting an uncompromising super sports car on the road that comes straight out of motorsport. Based on the successful GT2 racing car, this model combines impressive performance with sophisticated sports car elegance. The result: a Hypercar with road approval that is not just impressive on paper.

From the circuit to the road: a real racer in a suit

Maserati has already made its ambitions clear with the GT2 in the motorsport year 2023. Victories on the racetracks of Europe are proof of the GT2's competitiveness. Now comes the civilian version, the Stradale (Italian for "road"), which is visually closely related but has been technically adapted for everyday use - at least as far as everyday use is possible with 640 hp.

Nothing was left to chance: The GT2 Stradale remains as close as possible to the original racing car - with only minimal comfort adjustments for road approval. Nevertheless, it remains uncompromisingly sporty in its basic stance.

Performance to be proud of

Under the hood is a 3.0-litre V6 biturbo that mobilizes 471 kW (640 hp) - and that with an unladen weight of less than 1,400 kg. This enables the GT2 Stradale to sprint to 100 km/h in well under 3 seconds and easily reach top speeds beyond the 300 km/h mark.

Maserati promises genuine motorsport technology, including:

  • Carbon-ceramic brakes

  • Aerodynamics package with adjustable rear wing

  • Track mode with Race ABS

  • Adaptive chassis

What makes the model special is that it combines the purist performance of a racing car with just enough comfort to get you through long stretches of highway - but more in the style of a thrill ride than a business trip.

Elegant interior: sporty, but not spartan

Despite its racing heritage, the interior of the GT2 Stradale is surprisingly sophisticated. Although carbon, Alcantara and sports bucket seats dominate, the GT2 Stradale wants to be more than just a track tool. Air conditioning, a minimalist infotainment system and high-quality surfaces ensure that even drivers without a racing license immediately feel at home.

Maserati has achieved a rare feat here: the GT2 Stradale is civilized enough for the road without denying its roots.

Price & positioning: A bargain for the super-rich?

With a price of around 310,000 euros, the Maserati GT2 Stradale is almost an "entry-level model" in the road-legal hypercar segment. By comparison, a Ferrari SF90 or McLaren 750S starts significantly higher, and in terms of racing pedigree, Maserati's GT2 Stradale certainly has what it takes to keep up.

Limited numbers also make it an exclusive collector's item that will probably only be found in the garages of true enthusiasts - or on private racetracks in southern Spain, as at the presentation near Ronda near Málaga.

Who is the GT2 Stradale intended for?

The Maserati GT2 Stradale is not an everyday car, a luxury cruiser or a high-tech hybrid monster. It is aimed at purists - people who get goosebumps at the sight of a racetrack and who are not interested in touchscreens or recuperation, but in cornering speed, sound and feedback.

In short: anyone who buys the GT2 Stradale does so out of passion. For the price, you don't just get a car, you get an experience.

The most powerful combustion engine with a trident

An exciting aspect: the GT2 Stradale is currently the most powerful Maserati with a purely combustion engine that is approved for road use. Only the all-electric GranTurismo Folgore surpasses it with 775 hp - albeit with three electric motors and completely different characteristics.

This shows: Maserati is currently playing at both high performance weddings - electric and analog. The GT2 Stradale is to a certain extent a farewell gift to fans of classic performance before electricity increasingly takes over in Modena too.

Conclusion: racing meets maturity

The GT2 Stradale is a great success for Maserati. The model brings a real racing feeling to the road without being uncomfortable or overly brute. It remains a vehicle for connoisseurs - for those who know what a real trident on the radiator grille means.

The GT2 Stradale is an invitation: to ambitious drivers, collectors and lovers of Italian engineering. And yes - it is also one of those rare "flounders" that you can drive on the highway with a clear conscience.
