French sports car brand Alpine is planning a radical step into the world of hybrid hypercars. A completely new flagship model has been announced for 2028, which is set to push the boundaries of what is possible and catapult Alpine into a new era: A V6 turbo hybrid with around 1000 hp.

From the A110 to the Hypercar: Alpine reaches for the stars

Alpine, previously known for the light and agile A110, is making a statement with this project: the era of purist lightweight dwarf sports cars is being supplemented by high-tech and performance in the super sports segment.

With this step, Alpine is clearly positioning itself in the segment of brands such as McLaren, Ferrari or Aston Martin - and wants to assert itself there with its own profile.

Technical preview: What is known so far

Although there are no final technical specifications yet, the vision of the new model can be outlined as follows:

  • Drive: V6 twin turbo in combination with a powerful electric motor

  • System output: around 1000 hp

  • Drive type: All-wheel drive (electric front axle + combustion engine rear axle)

  • Battery technology: probably plug-in hybrid, possibly with Le Mans technology

  • Lightweight construction: typical Alpine carbon and aluminum

  • Aerodynamics: racing-inspired, actively controlled

Platform & Development: Together with Lotus?

There are indications that the project could be based on a shared platform with Lotus - similar to the planned EV models that converge via Renault/Nissan's CMF EV architecture and the Lotus Hypercar. The use of components from the Renault Formula 1 team (Alpine F1) is also possible.

Positioning: Alpine as France's tech statement

With the new Hyper-Hybrid, Alpine wants to show that France can not only keep up with small cars and compact models, but also wants to play a leading role in extremely powerful super sports cars.

According to insiders, the design will be aggressive, French-elegant, but aerodynamically optimized - a middle ground between futuristic formula look and road-legal sculpture.

Schedule & production target

  • Unveiling: expected in 2027

  • Market launch: planned for the end of 2028

  • Produktion: stark limitiert (noch nicht bestätigt, vermutlich <500 Stück)

  • Price: speculatively well over €500,000

Conclusion: France's supercar future is electric - and loud

With the announced Hypercar hypercar, Alpine is setting the course for a new era. The 1000 hp car with V6 biturbo and electric power promises everything a modern Hypercar needs: performance, technology, prestige and a clear brand vision.
