Bicester Motion, UK (September 16, 2025) - A rarely seen piece of Lamborghini history is set to cross the auction block. The Lamborghini Pregunta, regarded as the final concept car built on a pure Lamborghini platform before Audi took ownership of the Sant'Agata marque, will be offered at the Broad Arrow Zoute Concours Auction on October 10, 2025.

A Fighter Jet for the Road

First unveiled at the 1998 Paris Motor Show, the Pregunta stunned audiences with its Dassault Rafale fighter jet-inspired design. Styled by Marc Deschamps and constructed by Carrosserie Heuliez, the concept featured canopy-style scissor doors, wraparound glass, matte grey paint, and aviation-style interior details, including Azure Blue Alcantara seats, fiber-optic lighting, and a Formula One-derived digital cluster.

Engineering Under the Skin

Built on heavily reworked Lamborghini Diablo underpinnings, the Pregunta was powered by a 5.7-liter V12, producing 537 hp and 605 Nm of torque, paired with a five-speed manual gearbox. Performance figures were equally dramatic:

  • 0-100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds

  • Top speed of 337 km/h

The Quicksilver exhaust gave the car a soundtrack as dramatic as its fighter jet looks.

A Bridge Between Eras

While the Pregunta remained a one-off, its design cues influenced future Lamborghinis, including the Murciélago. The concept also foreshadowed later fighter jet-inspired Lamborghinis such as the Reventón (2007) and Egoista (2013).

After its debut, the Pregunta was displayed by Lamborghini at events worldwide, before being sold to a private collector in 2008. In 2014, it received a Polo Storico certificate, and in 2021 Lamborghini's heritage division inspected and serviced it before displaying it at the Museo Lamborghini in Sant'Agata.

Auction Estimate and Details

The Lamborghini Pregunta is expected to fetch between €2.5 million and €3.5 million when it goes under the hammer in Knokke-Heist, Belgium, as part of Zoute Grand Prix Car Week. The auction will feature more than 75 collectible cars, but the Pregunta is widely seen as one of the highlights.

Joe Twyman, VP of Sales for Broad Arrow's EMEA region, commented:

"The Lamborghini Pregunta is a striking piece of design that combines superb engineering with bold creativity. It's a genuinely fresh-to-market opportunity for collectors around the world."

Conclusion

As the last radical Lamborghini concept of the pre-Audi era, the Pregunta holds a unique place in automotive history. With its jet-inspired design, Diablo V12 power, and rarity, the upcoming auction represents a rare chance for collectors to acquire one of the most distinctive Lamborghini concept cars ever built.
