A potential takeover is causing a stir in the world of high-performance vehicles: Croatian sports car manufacturer Rimac Group is considering acquiring Bugatti outright by taking over Porsche's 45% stake in their joint venture Bugatti Rimac. This joint venture was established in 2021, with Rimac currently holding 55% and Porsche 45% of the shares. According to people familiar with the matter, Rimac recently made a preliminary offer for Porsche's stake, valuing the joint venture at just over one billion euros. Rimac could work together with other investors to realize the deal.

This potential takeover could significantly change the dynamics of the Hypercar. Rimac, known for its electric supercars such as the Nevera, has established itself as an innovator in the field of electromobility in recent years. Bugatti , on the other hand, has a long tradition of luxury and performance, particularly with models such as the Chiron. A merger of the two companies could lead to a unique combination of traditional engineering and modern electric technology.

Porsche, which itself holds shares in Rimac, could readjust its strategic direction by selling its stake in Bugatti Rimac. It remains to be seen how these developments will affect the future models and technologies of both brands.
