Gordon Murray Special Vehicles Reveals Two Le Mans Tribute Supercars at Monterey
MONTEREY, California (August 15, 2025) – At this year’s Monterey Car Week, Gordon Murray Special Vehicles (GMSV) celebrated its global U.S. launch with the unveiling of two extraordinary machines: the GMSV S1 LM and the GMSV Le Mans GTR. Both models serve as tributes to endurance racing and the legendary McLaren F1 GTR that secured victory at Le Mans in 1995 under Gordon Murray’s design leadership.
While Gordon Murray Automotive (GMA) continues to focus on ultra-exclusive hand-built production models like the T.50 and T.33, the newly founded GMSV takes a different path, specializing in one-off commissions, heritage-inspired continuations, and bespoke designs. The company is dedicated to enthusiasts and collectors seeking unique cars that embody Murray’s core philosophy of lightweight engineering, timeless design, and driver-focused purity.
GMSV S1 LM: Road-Legal Homage to Le Mans Glory
The S1 LM is the very first bespoke customer commission from GMSV. The name stands for “Special One Le Mans” – a nod to both exclusivity and Gordon Murray’s 1995 triumph.
Crafted with ultra-lightweight carbon fibre panels and a lowered roofline, the S1 LM integrates a bespoke aerodynamic package including a front splitter, diffuser, and dual-element rear wing. Le Mans-inspired lighting details complete the sculpted exterior.
At its heart lies a unique 4.3-litre naturally aspirated V12, producing over 700 PS and revving to 12,100 rpm. Paired with a rifle-bolt manual gearbox and a bespoke Inconel exhaust wrapped in 18-karat gold shielding, the engine delivers a raw yet harmonious soundtrack through its four central exhaust pipes.
The cabin features a central driving position, fighter jet-style ergonomics, and lightweight construction that embodies Murray’s philosophy of “engineering art.” Only five units of the S1 LM will be built, with deliveries beginning in 2026.
GMSV Le Mans GTR: Longtail Legend Reimagined
Inspired by endurance racing icons such as the Porsche 917 and Matra-Simca MS660, the Le Mans GTR pays tribute to the golden era of longtail racing cars while incorporating modern aerodynamics and engineering excellence.
It employs the GMA V12 engine and a six-speed manual transmission, but nearly every other element has been reimagined. Passive Boundary Layer Control, a deep twin-channel diffuser, and a wide rear wing generate massive downforce while maintaining balance between drag and grip.
The track-oriented suspension, wider stance, and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires enhance dynamics, while a roof-mounted ram-air intake ensures the V12 sings all the way to 12,100 rpm. The interior retains bespoke craftsmanship but with a sharper motorsport edge, offering customization inspired by endurance legends.
Production will be limited to 24 units, each representing one hour of the Le Mans 24 Hours. All are already sold, with first deliveries scheduled for 2026.

Murray’s Vision for GMSV
Professor Gordon Murray emphasized his lifelong passion for timeless design:
“I never want us to join the race to make the most outrageous-looking supercar at the expense of balance, beauty, and proportion. The result must always be timeless and beautiful.”
The creation of GMSV ensures that this philosophy lives on through special commissions and heritage-inspired models, blending Murray’s racing pedigree with the desires of discerning clients worldwide.
Conclusion
With the debut of the S1 LM and Le Mans GTR, Gordon Murray Special Vehicles marks a bold new chapter in bespoke automotive design. These cars do not just celebrate the past; they reimagine it, blending Le Mans heritage, modern engineering, and exclusivity into some of the most remarkable supercars ever conceived.
