McLaren Project: Endurance unveils triple crown livery at Monterey Car Week 2025
Monterey (August 16, 2025) - McLaren took to the stage at Monterey Car Week to unveil its strictly limited-edition Project: Endurance Le Mans Hypercar to American customers and dealers for the first time. The unveiling took place at an exclusive event hosted by motorsport legends Nick Collins (CEO McLaren Group Holdings), Zak Brown (CEO McLaren Racing) and Justin Bell, who finished third at the 1995 24 Hours of Le Mans in the McLaren F1 GTR.
The Hypercar was shown in a spectacular new Triple Crown-inspired livery that pays homage to McLaren's first success in the Triple Crown: the victory at the Indianapolis 500 in 1974.
A tribute to US racing history
The new livery takes up the color scheme of Johnny Rutherford's victorious McLaren M16 - known as the "Lone Star JR". The vehicle shines in McLaren Orange with a dark blue center stripe, inspired by the Texan flag. A white star, also borrowed from Texas, is emblazoned on the roof, along with Rutherford's legendary starting number 3. McLaren's well-known emblems, Speedy Kiwi and Speedmark, complete the design.
"There is a huge amount of interest in Project: Endurance around the world. The chance to own an authentic Hypercar Mans hypercar and be part of the development and testing work is a unique experience," emphasized Nick Collins, CEO McLaren Group Holdings.
Hands-on motorsport for buyers
Project: Endurance is much more than a vehicle - it is a comprehensive customer experience at motorsport level. Owners receive:
Two-year McLaren customer program with exclusive trackdays
Access to legendary race tracks worldwide
Individual coaching by professional racing drivers
Personal support from race engineers and pit crew
McLaren not only offers customers a Hypercar, but also the opportunity to drive it to the limit under professional conditions.
Looking to the future: WEC debut in 2027
Project: Endurance celebrated its debut at the 24 Hours of Le Mans back in June. McLaren will set the next milestone in 2027, when the Hypercar will compete in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC ) for the first time. The aim is to win the prestigious Triple Crown - consisting of victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the Indy 500 and the Monaco Grand Prix - in a single season for the first time.
